Foil Stamped Catalogues
Foil stamped catalogues feature metallic or coloured foil pressed onto the cover using a heated die, creating a brilliant, reflective finish that captures light and attention. Foil stamping is one of the most effective ways to elevate a catalogue from professional to truly luxurious — it adds a dimension of quality that printing alone cannot achieve.
At Perklets Print, we offer an extensive range of foil options including gold, silver, rose gold, copper, holographic, and a spectrum of matte and metallic colours. The foil is applied using a custom brass die that presses the foil onto the cover stock with heat and pressure, ensuring crisp, detailed reproduction of your design elements. Whether it is your logo, a border, typography, or a decorative pattern, foil stamping creates a statement that recipients notice and remember.
Foil stamped catalogues are the definitive choice for luxury brands, high-end product ranges, awards programmes, annual reports, and any publication where the cover must communicate exclusivity and premium craftsmanship. Combined with a heavy cover stock and matt lamination, the metallic foil creates a contrast that is both visually stunning and unmistakably tactile.

Design Guidelines
Supply two files: (1) the full-colour cover artwork and (2) a separate foil mask file — black areas indicate where foil will be applied. Both files must have identical dimensions.
- Bleed area: 3mm bleed on all sides for the cover artwork. Foil mask must match cover dimensions exactly.
- Crop area: A4 catalogue cover: 210 x 297 mm (saddle stitched) or full wrap including spine (perfect bound).
- Safe area: Keep foil elements at least 3mm from trim edges. Fine lines below 0.75mm and text smaller than 8pt may not stamp clearly. Bold, solid elements work best.
Accepted formats: PDF (preferred), AI, EPS — foil mask must be a separate vector file

FAQs: Foil Stamped Catalogues
What is foil stamping?
Foil stamping uses a heated brass die to press metallic or coloured foil onto the catalogue cover. The result is a brilliant, reflective finish that adds a tactile, premium dimension to your catalogue that standard printing cannot achieve.
What foil colours are available?
We offer gold, silver, rose gold, copper, holographic, and a range of matte and metallic colours. Gold and silver are the most popular choices. We can provide foil swatches to help you select the perfect finish for your brand.
Can foil stamping be combined with spot UV?
Yes, combining foil stamping with spot UV creates a multi-textured cover with exceptional visual depth. The foil provides metallic brilliance while the spot UV adds glossy highlights — together they create a truly premium finish.
Is there a minimum order for foil stamped catalogues?
Foil stamping requires a custom brass die, which is a one-time cost. We recommend a minimum of 50 catalogues to make the die cost effective, though we can produce smaller quantities on request.
How detailed can the foil design be?
Foil stamping reproduces fine detail well, but there are limits. Bold logos, solid text (8pt minimum), and clean geometric patterns work best. Very fine lines, gradients, and halftones do not translate well to foil. Our pre-press team will advise on your specific design.
