Roll Fold Flyers

Roll fold flyers take an A4 sheet and fold it into four equal panels using a rolling action — each panel folds over the previous one in the same direction, like a rolled-up sheet. The result is a compact leaflet roughly the size of a DL flyer that opens panel by panel, creating a natural reading sequence that guides your audience through your content in order.

The roll fold format creates eight content panels — four on each side — giving you generous space for structured content: a striking cover, detailed product information, pricing, maps, and a call to action, all in a logical flow. It is an excellent choice for restaurant menus, event schedules, product guides, hotel information sheets, and step-by-step instructional materials.

At Perklets Print, we use precision scoring and machine folding to ensure every panel aligns perfectly and the roll fold opens and closes smoothly. Available on 130 GSM to 170 GSM stock — heavier weights are not recommended for roll folds as they resist the multi-fold structure. Gloss or matte lamination is available for a polished finish.

Design Guidelines

Supply artwork at A4 (210mm x 297mm) with 3mm bleed. Divide the width into four equal panels of 52.5mm. Each panel rolls inward — innermost panels must be slightly narrower to allow clean folding.

  • Bleed area: 3mm on all sides (total file size: 216mm x 303mm)
  • Crop area: 210mm x 297mm flat — folded into 4 panels of approx. 52mm width each

FAQs: Roll Fold Flyers

What is a roll fold flyer?

A roll fold (also called a barrel fold) takes an A4 sheet and folds it into four panels, with each panel rolling over the previous in the same direction. It creates a compact leaflet that unfolds sequentially, panel by panel.

How many panels does a roll fold flyer have?

Eight panels total — four on each side. This gives you a front cover, six inner panels for content, and a back cover. The sequential unfolding creates a natural narrative flow.

Why is 130–170 GSM recommended for roll folds?

Roll folds involve multiple folds on the same sheet, which creates stress on the paper. Heavier stocks (250 GSM+) resist multi-folding and can crack or spring back. 130–170 GSM folds smoothly and holds its shape.

What is the difference between a roll fold and a Z fold?

In a roll fold, all panels fold in the same direction (like rolling up a map). In a Z fold, panels alternate direction creating a Z or accordion shape when viewed from the side. Both produce four panels from an A4 sheet.

What businesses use roll fold flyers?

Roll folds are popular for restaurant menus, hotel information packs, spa treatment menus, event programmes, and any content that benefits from a step-by-step reveal. The sequential unfolding keeps readers engaged.
