Embossed Invitations
Embossing adds a sculptural, three-dimensional quality to printed invitations that no other finishing technique can replicate. When your guests run their fingers across an embossed invitation, they feel the raised texture of your design — an immediate, tactile signal of quality and thoughtfulness that creates a lasting impression.
At Perklets Print, we produce embossed invitations using custom-machined metal dies that press your design into heavyweight card stock from the reverse side, creating a raised relief on the front. The effect is subtle yet unmistakable — elegant borders, monograms, crests, and decorative patterns emerge from the paper surface with refined dimensionality.
Embossing can be used on its own as a blind emboss (no ink, relying purely on light and shadow for visibility) or combined with foil stamping and CMYK printing for layered, multi-textured designs. Blind embossing is particularly striking on white or cream stock, where the play of light across the raised surface creates an effect of quiet luxury. Our embossing is performed on stocks from 350 to 600 GSM — thicker stocks hold deeper, more dramatic impressions.

Design Guidelines
Provide emboss elements as a separate vector layer with solid fills. Indicate emboss-only vs. emboss-with-foil areas clearly.
- Bleed area: 3mm bleed on all printed elements.
- Crop area: Trim size: 127 x 178 mm (5 x 7 inches).
- Safe area: Keep embossed elements 8mm from all edges. Minimum emboss line width: 1mm. Avoid very fine detail that may not hold in relief.
Accepted formats: AI, EPS, PDF (preferred) — vector artwork required for emboss elements

FAQs: Embossed Invitations
What is blind embossing?
Blind embossing creates a raised design on paper using pressure alone — no ink, foil, or colour is applied. The effect relies on light and shadow to reveal the design, creating an understated, elegant finish that is highly tactile.
Can embossing be combined with printing?
Yes, embossing works beautifully with CMYK printing, foil stamping, and letterpress. A common approach is to print text in colour and emboss a border or monogram. Multi-process invitations require additional production time.
What paper weight is recommended for embossing?
We recommend 400 GSM minimum for standard embossing and 450–600 GSM for deep embossing. Thicker, uncoated papers hold the embossed impression better and produce a more dramatic relief effect.
How detailed can the embossed design be?
Embossing works best with bold shapes, thick lines (minimum 1mm), and clear forms. Very fine text below 10pt and intricate patterns with thin lines may not emboss cleanly. We will advise during the proofing stage if any adjustments are needed.
What is the production time for embossed invitations?
Embossed invitations require 8–12 working days due to the custom die-making process. The die is machined from your artwork, tested, and then used for the production run. Rush production is available on request.
