Foil Cover Magazines

Foil cover magazines feature metallic foil stamping on the cover — gold, silver, copper, rose gold, or holographic foil hot-pressed onto the surface to create a luxurious, reflective finish that commands attention. Foil stamping is the hallmark of premium publishing and luxury branding, used by the world's leading fashion, lifestyle, and corporate publications.

At Perklets Print, we use precision hot foil stamping technology to apply metallic foil to magazine covers with exceptional clarity and adhesion. Whether you want a foil-stamped logo, headline, border, or decorative pattern, our foil work adds a dimension of luxury that printing alone cannot achieve. The metallic reflection catches the light from every angle, creating a dynamic, eye-catching cover.

Foil stamping pairs beautifully with matt lamination, soft-touch lamination, and embossing for multi-sensory cover finishes. A matt black cover with gold foil logo is a timeless combination, while a soft-touch white cover with silver foil creates a contemporary, refined aesthetic. We help you choose the perfect foil colour and finish combination to align with your brand identity.

Design Guidelines

Provide two cover files: (1) full-colour print file and (2) a separate foil mask file in solid black indicating areas to receive foil stamping.

  • Bleed area: 3mm bleed on all sides. Foil mask must align precisely with the print file — provide both at identical dimensions.
  • Crop area: A4 cover size: 210 x 297 mm (plus spine and bleed for perfect bound). Foil mask at same dimensions.
  • Safe area: Foil details smaller than 0.5mm may not stamp cleanly. Avoid foil on fine text below 10pt. Foil lines should be at least 0.75mm thick.

Accepted formats: Print file: AI, EPS, PDF. Foil mask: separate PDF/AI with black areas indicating foil. Specify foil colour in file name.

FAQs: Foil Cover Magazines

What foil colours are available?

We offer gold, silver, copper, rose gold, and holographic foil as standard. Specialty colours including red, blue, green, and custom Pantone-matched metallic foils are available on request.

Can foil be combined with other finishes?

Absolutely. Foil stamping pairs beautifully with matt lamination (classic luxury), soft-touch lamination (contemporary premium), spot UV (maximum impact), and embossing (3D tactile effect). Multi-finish covers are our specialty.

What is the minimum detail size for foil?

For clean foil stamping, elements should be at least 0.5mm wide and text should be 10pt or larger. Very fine serifs and hairline details may not stamp cleanly — our pre-press team will review your artwork and advise.

How does foil stamping work?

A custom metal die is created from your artwork. The die is heated and pressed against metallic foil, which transfers to the paper surface under heat and pressure. This creates a permanent, scratch-resistant metallic finish.

Is foil stamping available on inner pages?

Foil stamping is typically applied to covers only. Interior foil work is possible but requires careful planning and significantly increases cost. For most projects, we recommend foil on the cover with premium paper stocks inside.
