Screen Printed T-Shirts

Screen printing remains the industry standard for high-volume custom t-shirt production, delivering bold, vibrant colours with exceptional durability and a classic hand-feel that other printing methods cannot match. Each colour in the design is applied through a separate mesh screen, building up layers of thick, opaque ink that stands out on any garment colour — including darks and blacks.

At Perklets Print, we operate a full-scale screen printing facility with automatic and manual presses capable of printing up to 8 colours per design. Our water-based and plastisol inks are formulated for longevity, softness, and vivid colour saturation. Whether you need 100 event tees or 10,000 retail garments, screen printing delivers the best cost-per-unit at volume.

Screen printing excels at producing consistent, repeatable results across large runs, making it the preferred method for merchandise brands, event promoters, sports teams, and corporate clients. Every print is cured at high temperature for maximum wash durability, and our quality control process ensures colour accuracy across the entire production run.

FAQs: Screen Printed T-Shirts

How many colours can you screen print?

We can screen print up to 8 spot colours per design. Each colour requires a separate screen, so designs with fewer colours are more cost-effective. For unlimited colours, we recommend DTF or sublimation printing instead.

What is the difference between plastisol and water-based ink?

Plastisol ink sits on top of the fabric, producing bright, opaque colours — ideal for dark garments. Water-based ink soaks into the fabric fibres, creating a softer hand-feel with a more vintage look. Water-based is preferred for fashion brands and premium merchandise.

What is the minimum order for screen printing?

Our minimum order for screen printing is 50 pieces per design. This is because screen setup costs (screen creation, ink mixing, registration) are fixed per design. For smaller orders under 50, we recommend DTF printing.

Can you print on dark-coloured t-shirts?

Yes, screen printing is one of the best methods for dark garments. We apply a white underbase layer beneath the colours to ensure vibrancy and opacity on black, navy, and other dark fabrics.

How long do screen-printed designs last?

When properly cured, screen-printed designs last 50–100+ washes. We heat-cure all prints at 160°C to ensure the ink fully bonds with the fabric. We recommend washing garments inside out at 30°C for maximum longevity.
